I am so excited to be apart of this amazing app and I hope that my ideas help you and other parents and their children to pack healthy and delicious lunch boxes. On this page, I have included the 30 lunch items from the bundle along with written descriptions and videos to help you to replicate the ideas and recipes. As a bonus, I have also included several other lunch ideas – Enjoy! PROTEIN: Sandwich Kabobs When you are getting tired of the same old sandwich - try cutting it into squares and turning them into Sandwich Kabobs! The traditional sandwich with lettuce, meat and cheese is great or even try some sweeter sandwich options with cream cheese and strawberries or cucumbers or PB&J. There are lots of tools available for cutting up your sandwich but a simple knife will also do the trick! You can make your sandwich then cut it up or cut up each component first and then assemble them onto a skewer or toothpick. Depending on what ingredients you are using it may be easier to assemble first or afterwards. You be the judge! Mini Burger For chicken burgers: In a food processor combine 2 chicken breasts, 1/2 cup of tomato sauce or salsa, 2 Stems of Green Onion, 1 Tablespoon of Garlic powder, 1 Tablespoon of Dried Onion, 1/2 Teaspoon of Salt. Blend it all together then literally plop them on to a baking sheet that has either been greased, lined with parchment, foil or a silpat mat. Bake at 400F for about 20 minutes or until golden - top with cheese in the last 5 minutes (you can turn on the broiler if you want your cheese more crispy). Serve with some mini slider buns. This chicken burger recipe above also works for beef or turkey burgers too! Just sub the two chicken breasts with 2lbs of ground beef or turkey. If you are using ground meat there is no need to use a food processor. Just combine all the ingredients into a large bowl and mix it together with your hands until well combined. The key with packing burgers for lunch is to make your patties thin - it will make eating them cold easier for your child! Cheese Wands A cute, fast and easy way to serve some cheese and pretzels for lunch. Using a mini cookie or veggie cutter, cut out your shapes from any hard cheese such as cheddar, mozzarella or marble cheese. With some stick pretzels just gently twist them into the bottom of the cut out cheese to create a wand. If you are finding it difficult to do, try using a wooden skewer to create a hole in the cheese first and then gently twisting your pretzel into it. Quinoa Rice Balls With these quinoa rice balls, the key is to not make them too big! Small bite sized pieces are ideal for school aged kids. Cook your rice with 1/4 cup of quinoa and add 1/2 cup of extra water. When your rice has been cooked, let it cool down slightly then with damp hands pick up a little bit of the rice mixture and roll it into small balls. Cover in any toppings you like. Some great toppings to use for your quinoa rice balls are: seaweed, sesame seeds, nuts, chia seeds, hemp seeds, goji berries, spinach, broccoli, peppers, carrots or edamame. The key is to chop, dice or cut up everything as small as possible. You could also mix these toppings into the rice if you want or just coat the outside with them. Wonton Flowers Use up any leftovers by throwing them into a food processor then adding them inside of two wonton wrappers. YUM! Bake at 325F for about 10-15 minutes - flipping half way through. Because you are using cooked ingredients - you just need to bake them long enough to get the wonton wrappers golden brown. Mini Chicken Pot Pie This is another fast and easy idea for leftovers. Using some puff pastry or pie dough just fill them up with some leftover chicken and veggies that have been mixed with a little bit of milk and cheese. You can also just mix your leftover veggies and chicken (or any other meat) with some cream soup or sauce. For a bit more of a twist, you could use tomato sauce too! Bake for about 15-20 minutes at 350F. Your puff pastry or dough should be cooked through and the cheese should be melted. Deviled Eggs Hard boil some eggs, cut them in half, scoop out the yolks and mix it up with any of your favourite sauces. Humus, mayonnaise, cheese all work great. You can then scoop them back into the egg white centers or put the mixture into a ziplock bag and pipe them back into the egg whites. Top with a little bit of paprika for a pretty presentation! Chicken Veggie Nuggets For the crunchy exterior you can blend up any of your favourite crackers or use some bread crumbs or panko. Add a little bit of parmesan for extra yumminess. Next finely process some carrots, spinach, garlic, salt and pepper and some chicken breasts. Shape the mixture into chicken fingers or nuggets then coat them in the crumbs. Bake at 400F for 15-20 minutes flipping half way through. Pita Pizza Add all your favourite pizza toppings on to a pita and bake it until the cheese melts. There\'s no faster or easier way to have instant pizza! Grilled Cheese Bites Make grilled cheese on your stove top, in the oven or on your waffle iron! For lunch, cut them up into cute little squares and it\'ll be easy for them to eat up! These are also great on a kabob or long food pick. Egg Cutout Toast Did you just make some cute cut out sandwiches? Wondering what to do with the leftover crusts? Just drop an egg into the centers and cook them on the stove top or bake in your oven until the egg has set and the toast is nice and brown. It should take about 10 minutes. Tortilla Rolls Anything can go into your tortilla rolls! Make them savoury with all the traditional toppings for pizzas or sandwiches or go the sweet route by adding cream cheese, fruit, nut butters etc. Roll them up and slice them into cute sushi bite sized pieces. Ham Flowers Run out of bread? Just roll any of your favourite sandwich or wrap toppings with some sandwich meat like ham, chicken or turkey. Hotdog Octopus Slice your hotdogs into halves or thirds depending on how big you want them to be. Make 4 slices on one end of the hotdog to create the legs. Boil your hot dogs for 10 minutes or bake them at 400F until they are cooked (about 8-10 minutes). You will know when they are ready because the legs will start to curl up. Let them cool down completely then insert some chia seeds or black sesame seeds into the hotdogs for the eyes. Any dark coloured seeds, raisins or even edible food markers will work for the eyes too. Cheese Bowl These cheese bowls are a great way to get your little ones to try some salad. Shape them into bowls, tacos or even cones then add some greens, cheese and protein choice. Shredded cheese or parmesan work great. Just drop some cheese in the shape of a circle on a baking sheet lined with parchment or a silplat mat. Let it melt under your broiler for about 5 minutes - you will see it brown up and bubble. Let it cool slightly then shape them and let them set. Sushi Rolls Nothing hard about making homemade sushi! Keep a pack of nori on hand and when you have leftover rice you\'re set! Layer your rice flat on the nori, top with some sesame seeds, add your toppings to one side, then roll it up and slice. Smoked salmon, cream cheese, cucumbers, avocado all work well. If your child is hesitant to try sushi, make some hotdog sushi or add any of their favourite ingredients inside. It doesn\'t have to be a traditional roll - anything will work! FRUITS: Chocolate Stuffed Raspberries A simple way to add a treat to your child's lunch without much work or guilt! Just place a chocolate chip - white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate - whichever your child likes - into the whole of a raspberry. Flat side in or out both look great! Apple Noodles For this one - you'll need a special spiralizer tool. This thing turns everything into a noodle! There is something so uniquely awesome about apples in the shape of noodles that gives you a completely different experience with eating an apple. Try these yummy apple noodles plain, topped with a bit of cinnamon, with honey or maple syrup. Also if you are concerned about the apple noodles browning. Here are a couple of things you can do: drizzle some lemon juice, orange juice or pineapple juice over the noodles OR a salt and water bath OR an apple cider vinegar and water bath OR coat in a bit of honey OR just cover in cinnamon and the browning is n't noticeable. Apple Sandwiches Slice your apples nice and then and use them to make these apple sandwiches. Nut butters, cream cheese, jam are all great in these. For added protein you can also top the layers with seeds or nuts. For browning tips see "Apple Noodles" above. Orange Cups This is a great one especially if you are packing your lunch in some leak proof bento containers. For this one - the video shows the steps very well! Apple Cars What you need: an apple, blueberries and some toothpicks. Cut out wedges from your apple, cut your toothpicks in half then stick them through either ends of the apple wedges. Attach your blueberries to the ends of the toothpicks. Voila - you have apple cars! Grapes also work well for the wheels. Fruit Kabobs Cut up or leave whole any fruits. Put them on a skewer or toothpick! That's how fast and easy it is. Blueberry Stuffed Raspberries For this one.. instead of chocolate chips - just fill the centers of your raspberry with some blueberries! VEGETABLES: Veggie Kabobs Add any veggies to a stick - somehow food on a stick just is more appealing to kids! Toothpicks, food picks, skewers or even reused coffee stoppers work great! Cucumber Cups Tuna cups are great because you can fill them with whatever you have. Just use a spoon or melon scooper to scoop out some of the flesh from the center - do not go all the way through the cucumber. Then fill them up! Stuffed Peppers Mini sweet peppers work best for kids. Just cut off the top and fill with whatever you like. Cream cheese or humus is great paired with some other veggies and protein. Veggie Coins Slice up your cucumbers and carrots to create round circular pieces. Now with a small cookie cutter, veggie cutter or fondant cutter - cut out the centers and interchange the cucumbers and the carrots. The colour contrast is stunning! Tomato Stems Cute food picks like these leaves or stems are a great way to dress up some plain cherry tomatoes. TREATS: Granola Balls Bake these until crispy or just leave them bake-free. Either way these granola balls are great. In a food processor, add any dried fruit with some granola and any other toppings you desire. Blend it up then roll them into little balls. Marshmallow Pops This is a super sweet treat - great for special lunches! Cover a marshmallow with some chocolate and decorate with more chocolate - yes definitely a special treat! Apple Pops With a melon ball scooper, scoop out round balls out of an apple, dip in some chocolate and top with sprinkles, chocolate chips, coconut, fruit etc. You can also try dipping in some caramel or the traditional sugar syrup coating. Fruit Leather Puree up any fruit, add your sweetener of choice then bake on your lowest setting until the fruit as dried out completely. OR use your dehydrator! Apple sauce also works amazingly too.
